Do all the leaves have to come off the lawn before winter?

No, but a lawn that is mostly covered should be cleared before snow. USU Extension says scattered leaves are fine, a lawn about 50% covered can simply be mowed with the leaves left in place, and a lawn almost completely covered needs the leaves removed or they can smother it under snow.

Can raked leaves be piled in the street for pickup?

Check the city rules first, because some cities do not allow leaf piles in the street. Street sweepers cannot pick up leaf piles, and leaves that are not managed can clog storm drains, cause flooding and harm water quality, so bags or a curbside compost bin are the safer choice.

Can leaves be left in flower beds over winter?
