How far should firewood be from a house?

At least 30 feet. USU Extension's ember checklist says to move firewood stacks and scrap lumber piles at least 30 feet from the house or other buildings. A small indoor supply for the day is fine; the main stack belongs out in the yard.

Can firewood be stored under a deck?

No, not where wildfire is a risk. USU Extension says to remove plant debris, woodpiles and other easily ignited materials from under decks Clear out leaves and needles under the deck at the same time.

Where should firewood go on a small lot?

As far from the house as the lot allows, on the outer edge of the cleared area. USU Extension says firewood should be stored on the outside edge of the defensible space. Keep it off fences and away from sheds too, and set it on gravel or a metal rack.
